Description: The Friends of Gloucestershire Archives (FoGA) are seeking a Your Heritage grant to capture, preserve, celebrate and share Gloucester’s rugby heritage. They will encourage and enable the local and wider community to engage with the Club’s heritage via online community archive (documents, photographs, video/sound recordings) and other means of interpretation including displays at Gloucester Rugby Football Club (GRFC). GRFC was established in 1873 and is one of the oldest rugby football clubs in the world Sharing Tongues: Black LGBT Oral Testimonies Applicant: Rukus! Federation Programme: Your Heritage Location: London, London Region: London Amount awarded: £50,000   Description: This project will research, uncover, record and make available the previously hidden Black LGBT history of London, Birmingham, Manchester and Liverpool through recording oral and written histories and the production of a CD, booklet, exhibition and website.

Sawston Cinema Archive Project

Description: The project will enable young people to trace the history of cinema in Sawston. The project will focus on a former cinema building adjacent to the college which was closed in the 1970s but is currently being re-established as a cinema. The young people will be working with Sawston Village History Society to make a film, recording older people’s memories of the original cinema. Information collected and recorded will be put on a dedicated website and fed into the Cambridgeshire Community Archives Network (CCAN). The young people will receive training in oral history and film-making. The High Wolds Heritage Project Applicant: The High Wolds Heritage Group Programme: Your Heritage Location: Malton, North Yorkshire Region: Yorkshire and The Humber Amount awarded: £46,100   Description: The project will bring together adults and young people from different rural communities of the High Wolds area to: Identify and enhance the heritage of high wolds Collect, copy and archive heritage materials Research and record oral history Encourage inter-generational and lifeling learning Celebrate the heritage through exhibtions, publications, community and school workshops and a son et lumiere in Thixindale Church The grant will purchase all necessary equipment, professional expertise and training to support the above. Woodfood Halse Photographic Archive Amount awarded£7,837 Date of award09/06/2008 Initiative Awards for All Programme Awards for All: England Country England Region East Midlands Summary of project A project by this community group to establish and maintain a photographic archive of Woodford Halse for the benefit of residents in the village and those living in surrounding Hinton and West Farndon, Northamptonshire. The archive will be made available to local communities and educational establishments for local heritage purposes. The grant will pay for IT and software, refreshments, stationary, insurance, presentations and events.
