Edinburgh Collected

Edinburgh Collected is an online community archive where people can share, explore and discuss their memories of Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Collected has thousands of picture memories uploaded by individuals and community groups to explore and the website continues to grow with new submissions. The photos and digital images of documents and objects are mostly from the 20th century to the present day, building a collective informal picture of the city’s past.

Anyone can browse the website, or people can join the community archive and upload their own pictures and memories. Contributors can create scrapbooks to bring groups of memories together and if someone doesn’t have a picture, they can still share their story in a written memory. Contributors can also comment on other people’s memories further enhancing the sharing of history.

Edinburgh Collected is managed by Edinburgh Libraries and contributions to Edinburgh Collected help to expand the city’s digital heritage collections, enabling the Central Library to continue to preserve history for the future.
