Chorley Heritage Centre Support Group
The group was established in 2011 with the primary aim of establishing a heritage centre at the heart of Chorley. In preparation we have involved the community in heritage projects and established an archive. We have storage space and exhibition facilities, chiefly at the town’s Library. The archive is varied, partly determined by saving important collections from the skip. Items include: Chorley Guardian photographic glass plates 1950+, The John Sellers Chorley Photographic Collection, 1930+ (both digitised), The Hygienic Laundry Archive 1900+, Audio interviews on Chorley Celebrations 1937+ – and a braiding loom from the 1930s.
