2025 Conference Highlights video

If you weren't able to join us in Huddersfield in June, you might enjoy this video of highlights from our 2025 conference. The theme of the conference was: Community Voice, community heritage, preserving, sharing and celebrating diverse histories and traditions. It was the first occasion that the Community Archives and Heritage Group (CAHG) conference had been held in the north of England. The conference examined how communities and community members work to preserve and make accessible local and community histories and traditions, including both tangible and intangible cultural heritage. The focal point of the conference was presentations from groups from the North of England and wider afield demonstrating how they engage community members and the wider public with historical documents and photographs, storytelling, oral histories, song, knowledge practices and crafts online and in person. The conference focused on how communities control their own histories and traditions by taking the lead on community heritage work - although some presentations also described how community groups can also fruitfully collaborate with local museums, libraries, and archives. The conference featured skills workshops and a ‘market place and hub’ - a space where to showcase work  - with stalls, displays, poster sessions and plenty of networking opportunities.
