The archives of the Association of Lighthouse Keepers are focused on lighthouses, lightvessels and the social history of lighthouse keeping.
The geographical scope of the collection is world-wide, with an emphasis on the British Isles. Our oldest material dates to the 17th century, but the period best represented is the period of automation during the latter half of the twentieth century.
The growing collection comprises more than 15,000 catalogued items including: 700+ artefacts; 600+ published books; collections of postcards, photographs and other media not all individually catalogued; memoirs, 200+ station journals, engineers’ drawings, sea charts etc; and a growing corpus of digitised or born-digital material.
