Founded in 2008, Alde Valley Suffolk Family History Group has since curated a unique set of archives, the focus of which is on the communities of East Suffolk and, in particular, the towns of Aldeburgh, Leiston, Saxmundham and surrounding villages.
Housed in dedicated space on the first floor of the Council Offices, Town Square, Leiston, the archived material includes a range of parish registers, several churchyard surveys (including memorial inscriptions) and a selection of large scale Ordnance Survey Maps.
A full, downloadable index of all items in the collection is available from the group’s website. Access to the archives is available by appointment on the mornings of the first and third Saturday of each month. The booking process is also detailed on the website.
