Mickleton, Cotswold District, Gloucestershire, England, GL55 6TS, United Kingdom

Mickleton is the northernmost village in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds – three miles north of Chipping Campden and seven miles south of Stratford Upon Avon.

In 2013 a team of villagers created an online archive to preserve an important collection of historic photographs assembled over the years by the Mickleton Womens Institute. This work was undertaken with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and a team of volunteers who digitised the original collection and expanded it with more recent photographs, stories and articles about the social history and built environment of Mickleton.

Website and interactive map

A website was created to hold the archive and make it available to the general public, booklets and maps highlighting the main points of interest in the village were also published. The website now records almost 1,200 entries which can be found via an interactive map of the village.

In recent years the village has expanded and we have many new residents who have much to learn about their village and so we encourage them to use this resource to learn about their village’s heritage. Today’s events are tomorrow’s history – and our volunteer work continues, recording new events and teaching local children about the past.
